Polyimides based on Perylene and Triazine for Highly CO2-Selective Carbon
نویسندگان
چکیده
Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture from point sources like coal-fired power plants is a potential solution for stabilizing atmospheric CO2 content to avoid global warming. Sorbents with high and reversible CO2 uptake, high CO2 selectivity, good chemical and thermal stability and low cost are desired for the separation of CO2 from N2 in flue or natural gas. We report here, for the first time, on the synthesis of new microporous polyimide (PI) networks from the condensation of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) and 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine (melamine) using a Lewis acid catalyst zinc acetate/imidazole complex. These PI network materials, prepared in the absence and presence of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as weak solvent template, exhibit strong fluorescence. Nitrogen-containing carbons can be accessed from our PI networks via a simple thermal pyrolysis route. The successful construction of new microporous PI networks and derived N-containing carbons is shown here to provide promising CO2 sorbents with high uptake capacities (15 wt%) combined with exceptional selectivities over N2 (240), whilst their fluorescent properties can be exploited for simple sensing.

From dense monomer salt crystals to CO2 selective microporous polyimides via solid-state polymerization.
Fully aromatic polyimides are synthesized via solid-state polymerization of the corresponding monomer salts. The crystal structure of salts shows strong hydrogen bonding of the reactive groups and thereby paves the way for solid-state transformations. The polycondensation yields copies of the initial salt crystallite habits, accompanied by the development of a porosity especially suited for CO2.

متن کاملFabrication of an Electrochemical Sensor Based on a New Nano-ion Imprinted Polymer for Highly Selective and Sensitive Determination of Molybdate
In this work a new chemically modified carbon paste electrode was constructed for accurate, simple, sensitive and selective determination of molybdenum (VI) ions. The results of modified electrode by an ion imprinted polymer were compared with those obtained with carbon paste electrode. The results showed the stripping peak currents had a dramatic increase at the modified electrode. Under the o...

Herein, we report the targeted synthesis and solid state assembly of a novel triazine-based [4+6] organic molecular cage. The tetrahedral cage features a large cavity (∼2070 Å(3)), and after desolvation, the resultant material exhibits a high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area of 1181 m(2) g(-1) and also features selective adsorption of CO2 over N2.

Carbon oxide gaseous species are potentially considered as pollutants of the atmosphere of earth; especially, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide which are of the well-known carbon oxids, play an effective role in the greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, these species could initiate or handle some chain reactions in the troposphere that lead to emergence of some secondly air pollutants which may ...
